Vietnamese EV maker VinFast has officially opened online and offline bookings for its highly anticipated VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs in India.

VinFast Kicks Off India Operations

VinFast is making a significant entry into the Indian market, beginning with the booking commencement for its VF6 and VF7 electric vehicles. These models will be locally assembled at the company’s facility in Tamil Nadu, signaling a strong commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The company plans to launch the VF7 first, aiming for this festive season. To support its ambitious rollout, VinFast has partnered with 13 dealer groups, setting up 32 outlets across 27 Indian cities. Key locations like Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune will see the first dealerships.

Beyond vehicle sales, VinFast intends to leverage its parent company Vingroup’s extensive resources to establish robust service and charging networks across the country. This holistic approach aims to provide a seamless EV ownership experience for Indian customers.

The Flagship: VinFast VF7

The VinFast VF7 is set to be the brand’s flagship model in India, boasting a stylish, crossover-like design. Measuring 4,545mm in length, it’s easily recognized by its distinctive ‘V Face’ DRLs, a signature design element.

Inside, the VF7 comes packed with features in its single, fully loaded Plus trim. Drivers will appreciate the 12.9-inch touchscreen, heads-up display, and wireless phone charger. Passengers can enjoy seat ventilation and reclinable rear seats, enhancing comfort.

Safety is a priority with a Level 2 ADAS suite, which is radar-based, and a total of seven airbags. For the Indian market, the VF7 specifically gets larger 19-inch alloy wheels and a raised ground clearance of 190mm, making it well-suited for varied road conditions. It also offers a generous boot space of 537 litres.

VF7 Power and Performance

The VF7 is equipped with a 70.8kWh LFP battery pack. This battery supports both 7.2kW AC and DC (CCS2) fast charging. While specific charging times for India are yet to be revealed, the vehicle offers impressive range figures on the WLTP cycle: 450km for the FWD version and 431km for the AWD variant.

Customers will have two powertrain choices: a 204hp, 310Nm FWD option or a more powerful 350hp, 500Nm AWD setup. The VF7 will be available in a selection of colors, including Neptune Grey, Brahminy White, Crimson Red, and Jet Black, allowing for personalization.

The Compact Powerhouse: VinFast VF6

Positioned below the VF7, the VinFast VF6 enters the competitive midsize SUV segment, measuring 4,238mm in length. VinFast will launch the VF6 Plus variant in India, which shares many premium features with its larger sibling.

Like the VF7, the VF6 boasts a split headlamp setup, a central touchscreen, a glass roof, ADAS capabilities, and seven airbags. However, it features a slightly smaller boot space of 423 litres and 18-inch alloy wheels. Crucially, the VF6 also gets a raised 190mm ground clearance for the Indian market, ensuring better adaptability.

VF6 Performance and Features

The VF6 will be offered with a single 204hp FWD powertrain, powered by a 59.6kWh battery. This battery pack is compatible with both AC and DC fast charging. On the WLTP cycle, the VF6 promises a range of 480km, offering considerable travel on a single charge. The exact ARAI/MIDC range figures for India are still pending.

The VF6 also comes in a variety of appealing colors: Brahminy White, Crimson Red, Jet Black, and Neptune Grey, mirroring some of the options available for the VF7.

  • VinFast VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs are now open for bookings in India.
  • Both models will be locally assembled at VinFast’s Tamil Nadu facility.
  • The VF7 will offer both FWD and AWD options, while the VF6 will be FWD only.
  • Both EVs support AC and DC fast charging.
  • VinFast is establishing a wide dealership and charging network across India.

As VinFast prepares for the festive season launch, the commencement of bookings marks a significant step in the brand’s journey to electrify Indian roads.
