Tesla is rapidly expanding its footprint in India, with a second dealership set to open soon in Delhi’s Aerocity, following the recent launch of its Mumbai experience center.

Tesla’s Expanding Footprint in India

The electric vehicle giant is increasing its presence across the Indian market. Hot on the heels of inaugurating its Mumbai experience center, Tesla is now preparing to open its second dealership in the country.

This new facility is strategically located in Delhi’s bustling Aerocity area, close to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport. Photos shared online suggest the construction is nearing completion, with an anticipated operational date as early as August.

What the New Dealership Means for Buyers

The addition of more physical touchpoints is a crucial move for Tesla in India. These dealerships and experience centers allow potential buyers to interact directly with the vehicles.

Customers can explore features, experience the interiors, and get a true feel for the Tesla experience before making a purchase decision. This direct interaction is vital for high-value purchases like electric vehicles, building confidence and trust among prospective owners.

The Tesla Model Y in India

Currently, Tesla offers the Model Y crossover to Indian customers. This premium electric SUV carries a starting ex-showroom price of Rs. 59.89 lakh.

It’s important to note that the Model Y is imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which contributes to its premium pricing in the Indian market. The vehicle is available in two main variants: the Rear-Wheel Drive and the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive.

Depending on the chosen variant, the Model Y boasts an impressive WLTP-claimed range of up to 622 kilometers. It can also achieve a top speed of 201 kilometers per hour, offering a blend of efficiency and performance.

Customization and Features

Buyers of the Model Y have several options to customize their vehicle. These include selecting 19-inch crossflow alloy wheels, which enhance both the car’s appearance and driving dynamics.

For those interested in advanced driving capabilities, an optional Full Self-Driving (FSD) kit is available. This feature comes with an additional premium of Rs. 6 lakh, offering enhanced driver-assistance functionalities.

Regarding aesthetics, most exterior and interior color combinations for the Model Y incur an extra cost. The only standard option offered without an additional charge is the Stealth Grey exterior paired with an All Black interior. Nation-wide bookings for the Model Y crossover are already being accepted through Tesla’s official website, making it easier for interested buyers to reserve their vehicle.

  • Tesla’s second Indian dealership is set to open in Delhi’s Aerocity, near the IGI airport.
  • The facility is expected to be operational by August, following the Mumbai experience center.
  • The Model Y crossover is currently available in India, starting from Rs. 59.89 lakh.
  • New touchpoints aim to provide prospective buyers with a crucial first-hand experience of Tesla vehicles.

This strategic expansion underscores Tesla’s commitment to the Indian market, aiming to make its advanced electric vehicles more accessible to a growing base of environmentally conscious consumers.
