Veteran actor Ashok Saraf recently shared amusing anecdotes from the sets of the 1995 blockbuster film ‘Karan Arjun,’ confirming that lead stars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan were quite the pranksters.
The Pranksters’ Playground
Ashok Saraf, who played a pivotal role in ‘Karan Arjun,’ recalled the lively atmosphere on set. He confirmed earlier reports that Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan would often engage in mischievous activities, much to the amusement of some and the occasional dismay of others.
During an interview with Radio Nasha Official, Saraf was asked about the duo bursting crackers and firing fake guns outside director Rakesh Roshan’s room. He chuckled, confirming the stories were true. Saraf admitted he generally kept his distance from such antics, saying, “Kisi ko sataana ho toh main door hu (If someone is being bothered, I stay away).”
He added that comedian Johny Lever, another co-star, would frequently join in on their fun. While Saraf himself preferred not to participate directly, he noted the playful energy that the trio brought to the film set.
Rakesh Roshan’s Ordeal
This isn’t the first time tales of the ‘Karan Arjun’ set pranks have surfaced. Director Rakesh Roshan himself previously spoke about the challenges of managing his two young, energetic leads.
Roshan recounted hearing loud noises outside his room late at night, including gunshots and bottles flying. He would often confront them, questioning their late-night disturbances.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Confession
Shah Rukh Khan, in the docu-drama ‘The Roshans,’ also addressed these pranks. He admitted that Rakesh Roshan’s wife, Pinkie Roshan, even scolded him for troubling her husband.
SRK recalled Pinkie telling him, “You are troubling Guddu (Rakesh) a lot. I didn’t expect it from you.” Shah Rukh playfully deflected some blame onto Salman, claiming he was “slightly better behaved” on the surface. He acknowledged that they were “two young kids, really troubling a father figure.”
