Skoda and Volkswagen have issued a second recall this year for several popular models in India, including the Kylaq, Slavia, Kushaq, Virtus, and Taigun, due to a seatbelt issue.
Another Recall for Popular Models
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Limited (SAVWIPL) recently announced a new recall impacting 1,821 units across their sedan and SUV lineup. This comes just months after a similar, larger recall affecting 47,235 units of the same models in May 2025.
The vehicles involved were manufactured between December 2021 and May 2025. The core problem identified is a potential frame crack in the metal base of the rear seatbelt assembly, and in some cases, incorrect parts may have been installed.
Skoda Models Impacted
Skoda Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia
A total of 860 Skoda vehicles are part of this latest recall. This includes units of the Skoda Slavia, Kushaq, and Kylaq.
The issue was discovered during ongoing quality inspections. The rear seatbelt assembly, specifically on the left and right sides, might have a “frame crack in the metal base.” Additionally, some of these vehicles were fitted with incorrect seatbelt parts that may need replacement.
Volkswagen Vehicles Affected
Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun
For Volkswagen, 961 units of the Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan are impacted by the same seatbelt problem. This brings the total number of vehicles in this specific recall to 1,821.
It’s worth noting that imported Volkswagen models like the Golf GTI and Tiguan R Line are not part of this recall. Volkswagen has also undertaken other safety recalls in international markets for different models recently.
