Superstar Salman Khan is gearing up for his physically demanding new film, ‘Battle of Galwan,’ revealing the significant challenges of shooting action sequences at high altitudes and in icy waters at 59 years old.

Taking on the ‘Battle of Galwan’

After his recent film ‘Sikandar,’ Salman Khan has shifted gears to ‘Battle of Galwan,’ a non-fiction film based on the intense 2020 Galwan Valley clash. This real-life event involved Indian and Chinese troops in a brutal hand-to-hand combat at Ladakh, situated 15,000 feet above sea level, where firearms are prohibited.

The actor shared that while the script was captivating, bringing it to life on location is proving to be incredibly difficult.

Physical Demands at 59

At 59, Salman Khan admits that performing stunts now requires significantly more effort and time. He explained that what used to take a week or two now demands much longer preparation.

“Of course it is physically demanding in every year, month, day and hour,” Khan stated. “I have to give a lot more time now. Earlier, I used to finish all this in a week or two. Now it takes more time.”

He’s been actively engaged in running, working out, kicking, and punching, all crucial for the film’s intense action sequences, which differ greatly from his previous roles.

The Ladakh Challenge: Cold Water Stunts

One of the most daunting aspects of the shoot involves filming in the freezing waters of Ladakh. Salman highlighted the danger of losing consciousness during action scenes in such harsh conditions, emphasizing the need for rigorous training.

He revealed that out of a 20-day schedule in Ladakh, he’s expected to spend at least eight days submerged in “ice cold water.” He humorously referenced the classic song, “Thande Thande Paani Se Nahana Chahiye,” expressing his dread for the upcoming scenes.

The water will be “fresh snow melting paani,” making it an even greater test of endurance. “I have only used cold pani to drink,” he quipped, anticipating the challenging experience.

Preparation and Mindset

Khan admitted his preparation for the ‘Galwan’ shoot is a gradual process. He shared that he hasn’t fully “felt it” yet, but anticipates the physical and mental toll, particularly from the cold water.

The film is slated for a quick and intense release, focusing on raw, brutal, hand-to-hand combat in the high-altitude, freezing environment.

Looking Ahead: Release Plans

When asked about the film’s release, Salman confirmed that ‘Battle of Galwan’ will not be an Eid offering. He plans to bring another film for Eid, followed by a separate release for Diwali, ensuring fans have plenty to look forward to.
