Actress Radhika Madan recently revealed the extraordinary lengths she went to secure her role in the film Angrezi Medium, including shooting with a “fake Irrfan Khan.”

Fighting for the Big Break

Radhika Madan openly shared her journey to landing a role in the critically acclaimed film Angrezi Medium. During a candid chat with filmmaker Farah Khan, Radhika explained that she practically “fought” for the part.

At the time, she had three months before her first film began and decided to audition “just for fun.” Despite another actor already being cast for the role, Radhika was determined. She relentlessly pursued the filmmakers, insisting on an audition.

Irritating Her Way In

Director Homi Adajania’s team initially dismissed Radhika, stating they were looking for a 17-year-old. However, Radhika remained adamant. Her persistence eventually “irritated” Adajania, who finally agreed to give her an audition.

Radhika also noted that it was “the year of star kids,” making her chances seem even slimmer as an outsider. She truly didn’t expect to get the part, simply wanting to tell her friends she had auditioned.

The “Star Kid” Quip and Fake Irrfan

Farah Khan playfully teased Radhika, questioning if she had “stolen a star kid’s role,” a remark that brought laughter from both. Radhika, maintaining her innocence, simply wanted the experience of auditioning.

Her audition process involved six rigorous rounds. One memorable part included shooting with a “nakli” (fake) Irrfan Khan, which Farah jokingly speculated could have been Irrfan’s son, Babil.

A Dramatic Transformation

Even after securing the role, Radhika faced another challenge: she was asked to lose 12 kilos. She successfully shed the weight, explaining that she had previously gained weight for other films like Pataakha, and this was her natural physique.

An Unplanned Entry into Acting

Radhika’s entry into the entertainment industry was quite serendipitous. She recounted being approached via Facebook for an audition in Delhi. Initially suspicious, she even brought friends along, ready to confront a potential scam.

However, the audition turned out to be legitimate. Just three days later, she received a call, did a look test, and by the fifth day, she was already on set, shooting for her first television show.
