Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw has officially announced his departure from Mumbai, his long-time domestic team, to join the Maharashtra cricket squad for the upcoming season.

He pointed to initiatives like the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL), Women’s MPL, Corporate Shield, and the D.B. Deodhar Tournament as signs of their progressive vision.
“I’m confident that being part of such a progressive setup will positively impact my journey as a cricketer,” Shaw added. He also voiced his excitement about playing alongside talented players in the Maharashtra team, including Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ankit Bawne, Rahul Tripathi, Rajneesh Gurbani, and Mukesh Choudhary.

Maharashtra Cricket Association President Rohit Pawar officially welcomed Prithvi Shaw to the team. He emphasized that Shaw’s inclusion will significantly strengthen an already robust squad.
“His international and IPL experience will be invaluable, especially for mentoring younger players in the squad,” Pawar noted. He also extended thanks to the MCA Apex Council and the Cricket Advisory Committee for supporting the decision, affirming the association’s full backing for Shaw’s new journey.

The move comes after Shaw formally requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to represent another state as a professional player. Mumbai MCA confirmed they had granted the NOC after careful consideration.
“The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) would like to inform that cricketer Prithvi Shaw had formally requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to represent another state as a professional player in the upcoming domestic season. After due consideration, the MCA has granted the NOC,” a statement from the Mumbai MCA read.
