Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has humorously responded to online trolling he received after revealing he once drank his own urine to recover from a leg fracture.
The Controversial Revelation
The controversy began when Paresh Rawal shared in an interview that he consumed his own urine decades ago as a self-remedy for a fractured leg. This unusual disclosure quickly went viral, prompting a wave of reactions on social media. Many users mocked the actor and labeled his actions as “dangerous” or unscientific.
Rawal’s Unbothered Reaction
Addressing the online backlash, Rawal reacted with his signature wit. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, he light-heartedly questioned his critics, asking, “I haven’t offered them (urine), right? Or are they having a problem because I didn’t offer them?” He further wondered if people felt left out, jokingly suggesting they might be thinking, “Yaar yeh akele pee gaye aur humko nahin diya?!”
He dismissed the trolling, stating that the incident happened 40 years ago and was simply a life experience he chose to share. Rawal added that people enjoy “making a mountain out of a molehill” and found their reactions amusing.
Clarifying His Bond with Akshay Kumar
Beyond the urine statement, Rawal also used the interview to clarify another previous comment regarding his relationship with fellow actor Akshay Kumar. He had referred to Akshay as a “colleague” rather than a “friend,” which also sparked some speculation.
Rawal explained that for him, a “friend” is someone you meet frequently and talk to often. Since neither he nor Akshay are particularly social, and they don’t often bump into each other at parties, he considers Akshay a colleague. He assured everyone that “nothing happened” between them, dispelling any rumors of a rift.
The Story Behind the Urine Therapy
Rawal recounted the original incident from 40 years ago to The Lallantop. He was in Nanavati hospital for his leg injury when renowned action director Veeru Devgan, father of Ajay Devgn, visited him.
Devgan allegedly advised Rawal to drink his own urine first thing in the morning. He also recommended avoiding alcohol, red meat, and smoking during the healing process. Rawal followed the advice, noting he “sipped it like beer” for 15 days.
He claimed that when his x-ray was taken after 15 days, doctors were “shocked” by his rapid recovery. Rawal, who was expected to be discharged in 2 to 2.5 months, was out in just 1.5 months, describing it as “magic.”
