Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly and filmmaker Abrid Shine are now facing a police case for alleged financial fraud, following a complaint by a co-producer.

Legal Action Initiated Against Pauly and Shine

A case has been registered against popular Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine. This action follows a complaint lodged by PS Shamnas, who served as a co-producer for their film, Mahaveeryar.

Police confirmed on Thursday that an FIR (First Information Report) was filed on Wednesday night. The charges include criminal breach of trust (IPC section 406) and cheating (IPC section 420).

The Producer’s Allegations

According to PS Shamnas, Nivin Pauly allegedly failed to pay him a promised compensation of Rs 95 lakh. This amount was supposedly due after their film, Mahaveeryar, did not perform well at the box office.

Shamnas claims that Pauly had assured him of this compensation. Additionally, he was promised a partnership in the actor’s upcoming film, Action Hero Biju 2, which was also to be directed by Abrid Shine.

Based on these assurances, Shamnas states he invested a substantial sum of Rs 1.9 crore into Pauly’s new project. He further alleges that while the new film was initially registered under his own production house, Indian Movie Makers, Pauly later entered into a Rs 5 crore distribution deal with a Dubai-based firm.

Shamnas also accused the actor of accepting an advance of Rs 2 crore from the Dubai company. He cited a prior agreement indicating the film would be registered under Nivin Pauly’s own production banner, not his.

Nivin Pauly’s Statement

Nivin Pauly has responded to these serious allegations via social media. He stated that the dispute is already undergoing a court-directed arbitration process.

The actor highlighted that this arbitration has been ongoing since May 28, 2025, and is subject to a gag order. This order was put in place to ensure the confidentiality of the proceedings.

Despite the existing gag order, Pauly noted that a new police case was filed by the co-producer. He believes this action violates the court’s directives by suppressing the ongoing arbitration and distorting facts.

Pauly concluded his statement by asserting that he would take appropriate legal action against this development, adding confidently, “The truth will prevail.”

  • Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine face cheating and criminal breach of trust charges.
  • Co-producer PS Shamnas alleges unpaid compensation of Rs 95 lakh and a broken partnership promise for a new film.
  • Pauly states the matter is already under court-directed arbitration, with a gag order in place.

This legal battle unfolds as both parties prepare to present their cases, with the outcome to be determined by the ongoing judicial process.
