Actor-politician Ravi Kishan recently shared a pivotal piece of advice he received from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which reshaped his public approach.
PM Modi’s Guidance: A Call for Caution
Ravi Kishan, known for his straightforward opinions, admits he used to be quite outspoken, often landing in controversies. This changed after a direct conversation with PM Modi.
According to Kishan, the Prime Minister advised him to be more thoughtful before speaking. “You are a celebrity,” Modi reportedly told him, emphasizing the importance of carefully considered words. He also suggested minimizing media appearances and avoiding unnecessary disputes.
Kishan states that this advice led him to significantly curb his tendency to make “loose talk” just for headlines. He credits the PM’s “very best words” for this transformation.
Focusing on Service, Not Sensations
The Gorakhpur MP revealed he once had a unique “Ravi Kishan ras” or essence, which often made his comments go viral. However, he now aims to prevent such moments from happening intentionally.
He mentioned instances like the Marathi-Bhojpuri controversy where he could have spoken out but chose not to. Kishan believes it’s better to “do your work, stay quiet and don’t beat the drum.”
He noted that people are aware of every detail of public figures’ lives. His approach now is to “keep your head down and be natural,” focusing on his duties rather than seeking attention.
The Humility of Public Service
Kishan also elaborated on the ground realities of being a Member of Parliament. He stressed the importance of respecting and listening to constituents, no matter the issue.
He shared anecdotes of people stopping his car to discuss drainage problems or even requesting help with train tickets. As an MP, he feels it’s his responsibility to address these everyday concerns without complaint or anger.
PM Modi: A Selfless Inspiration
Kishan holds PM Modi in high regard, referring to him as a “Niswarth Sant” (selfless saint). He highlighted the Prime Minister’s incredible work ethic, describing him as working 18 hours a day, starting at 4:30 AM, without taking any leave, even when ill.
He noted that other BJP leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, follow Modi’s example. Kishan believes such dedicated leaders, who function on minimal sleep and prioritize work, are rare, appearing “only once in centuries.”
“Bharat Jhukega Nahi”: A Memorable Encounter
Kishan recounted a deeply impactful moment after winning his first election. When he met PM Modi to seek blessings, he instinctively moved to touch the Prime Minister’s feet.
However, Modi immediately stopped him, holding his hands. The Prime Minister’s powerful words, “Bharat jhukega nahi” (India will not bow down), resonated deeply with Kishan, becoming a defining line for him.
