Comedian Rajiv Thakur recently shared the real reasons behind his absence from the latest season of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ and opened up about how a past on-screen moment unfairly damaged his career.

Why Rajiv Thakur Missed the Show

Fans of ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ noticed comedian Rajiv Thakur was missing from the latest season. Rajiv, known for his long association with Kapil Sharma, finally explained his absence.

He revealed that scheduling conflicts were a major reason. He had prior commitments that he didn’t want to break, making it difficult to align dates with the show’s production.

Additionally, Rajiv pointed out that the new season’s episodes are shorter, only 55 minutes long. With prominent comedians like Kapil, Krushna Abhishek, and Sunil Grover, plus guest interactions, there was very little screen space left for him to perform adequately.

The “Boring” Label That Stuck

Rajiv also candidly discussed a pivotal moment from his past on the show ‘Comedy Circus’ that he believes hampered his career. He was paired with child artist Saloni Daini.

Out of respect for Saloni’s young age, Rajiv decided to let her mock him instead of reciprocating the jokes. He even wrote lines for her to use against him, including one about him “making a living on a kid’s salary.”

While this approach got laughs from the audience, it inadvertently created a perception. People started believing the jokes were true, leading them to call him “boring.”

Career Impact and Misperception

Rajiv lamented how this seemingly harmless decision had a significant negative impact. “This thought process has hampered my career in a way you can’t even imagine,” he shared.

He questioned how someone could be labeled boring after successfully performing in 14 seasons of a comedy show over eight years. The “boring” tag stuck, despite his extensive experience and talent in the comedy circuit.

  • Rajiv Thakur’s absence from ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ was due to scheduling conflicts and limited screen time.
  • A past decision on ‘Comedy Circus’ to let a child artist mock him led to an unfair “boring” label.
  • This misperception, he believes, significantly impacted his career despite his long and successful tenure in comedy.

Rajiv’s revelations offer a glimpse into the tough realities of the entertainment industry, where a single perception can sometimes outweigh years of consistent work.
