The highly anticipated MG Cyberster, an all-electric convertible, has officially launched in India, marking MG’s bold entry into the premium EV sports car segment.
Pricing and Availability
For those making fresh bookings, the MG Cyberster is priced at an introductory Rs 74.99 lakh. However, customers who pre-reserved their units will enjoy a slightly lower price of Rs 72.49 lakh.
This includes essential charging equipment like a 3.3kW portable charger and a 7.4kW wallbox, along with installation costs. The Cyberster will be exclusively available through MG’s premium ‘Select’ showrooms across India, with deliveries slated to begin on August 10.
Electrifying Performance
Underneath its sleek exterior, the Cyberster packs a powerful punch. It features a 77kWh battery pack that powers dual electric motors, one on each axle, providing all-wheel drive.
This setup unleashes a combined output of 510hp and a massive 725Nm of torque. MG claims the Cyberster can rocket from 0 to 100kph in a blistering 3.2 seconds, offering a thrilling driving experience. It also boasts an impressive MIDC-certified range of 580km on a single charge.
A Head-Turning Design
The Cyberster is a true roadster, embodying classic proportions with a long bonnet and a short rear. Its design is incredibly aerodynamic, boasting an ultra-slippery drag coefficient of just 0.269 Cd.
Key design elements include swoopy LED headlights, distinctive arrow-shaped tail-lamps connected by a full-width LED strip, and eye-catching 20-inch alloy wheels. The car also features stylish silver roll hoops, a unique ‘smile’ shaped fascia, a folding soft-top, and its most striking feature: attention-grabbing scissor doors.
Buyers can choose from four dual-tone colour options: Andes Grey with Red Roof, Flare Red with Black Roof, Modern Beige with Red Roof, and Nuclear Yellow with Black Roof.
Advanced and Driver-Focused Interior
Step inside the Cyberster, and you’ll find a cabin designed with the driver at its heart. The dashboard features an innovative triple-screen setup, creating a futuristic cockpit feel.
This includes a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display flanked by two 7-inch screens. Adding to the tech quotient, there’s a fourth 7-inch touchscreen conveniently placed next to the drive selector on the angled centre console, which also features a stylish grab handle for the passenger.
Feature-Rich Comfort and Safety
The Cyberster is not just about performance and looks; it’s also loaded with comfort and safety features. Occupants will enjoy electrically adjustable seats and premium vegan leather upholstery.
Connectivity is seamless with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For safety and convenience, it includes Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems), adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree parking camera, and dual-zone climate control. A cabin air filter and a high-quality Bose sound system complete the premium experience.
Unique Market Position
The MG Cyberster stands alone in the Indian market as the only all-electric convertible. This makes it a unique proposition without any direct rivals in its segment.
While there are more expensive ICE-powered convertibles like the BMW Z4 and Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet available, the Cyberster offers a more powerful and sustainable option at a competitive price point, making it a compelling choice for luxury EV enthusiasts.
