Anurag Basu’s musical romance “Metro… In Dino” is steadily gaining momentum at the Indian box office, crossing the Rs 20 crore mark despite trailing behind the Hollywood blockbuster “Jurassic World Rebirth.”
Metro… In Dino’s Box Office Journey
After a promising start, “Metro… In Dino” experienced a significant dip on its first Monday, collecting Rs 2.5 crore. However, it managed a slight recovery on Tuesday, bringing in Rs 2.9 crore.
The film opened on Friday with Rs 3.5 crore, showing a healthy increase on Saturday with Rs 6 crore, and hitting its highest single-day earning on Sunday with Rs 7.25 crore. As of day five, the movie’s total domestic collection stands at Rs 22.15 crore.
Facing Hollywood’s Roar
Despite its steady performance, “Metro… In Dino” is still playing catch-up with Hollywood releases. “Jurassic World Rebirth,” which premiered on the same day, continues to dominate, raking in Rs 4.25 crore on Tuesday alone.
Another Hollywood release, Joseph Kosinski’s “F1” starring Brad Pitt, also out-earned “Metro… In Dino” on Tuesday, collecting Rs 2.75 crore.
Leading the Hindi Pack
Among recent Hindi film releases, “Metro… In Dino” is currently the preferred choice for moviegoers. It has already surpassed the lifetime domestic earnings of Sonu Sood’s “Fateh” (Rs 18 crore) and Kangana Ranaut’s “Emergency” (Rs 20 crore).
Furthermore, it performed significantly better than holdover Hindi films on Tuesday. Aamir Khan’s “Sitaare Zameen Par” earned Rs 1.85 crore, while Kajol’s “Maa” collected just Rs 85 lakh on the same day.
Upcoming Challenges at the Box Office
The road ahead for “Metro… In Dino” won’t be easy. Starting this Friday, July 11, it will face fresh competition from Pulkit’s “Maalik,” starring Rajkummar Rao and Manushi Chhillar.
Also premiering this Friday are Shanaya Kapoor’s debut film “Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan” and the highly anticipated Hollywood superhero reboot “Superman,” starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. These new releases could impact “Metro… In Dino’s” continued run.
