Mercedes-Benz has launched a new AMG Line trim for its popular GLS SUV in India, offering sportier design elements for both petrol and diesel variants, with prices starting from Rs 1.40 crore (ex-showroom).

Elevated Style: The AMG Line Touch

The new AMG Line trim brings a series of cosmetic enhancements to the GLS, making it look more dynamic and performance-oriented. These updates are purely visual, as the vehicle remains mechanically unchanged under the hood.

Mercedes-Benz has reported significant success with the GLS in India, having sold approximately 16,000 units of the luxury SUV to date, highlighting its popularity in the segment.

Pricing and Variants

The Mercedes GLS AMG Line is available in two variants: the GLS 450 AMG Line (petrol) and the GLS 450d AMG Line (diesel). The petrol variant is priced at Rs 1.40 crore, while the diesel version costs Rs 1.43 crore (all prices ex-showroom).

Compared to their standard counterparts, the GLS 450 AMG Line carries a premium of Rs 3 lakh over the regular petrol model. The GLS 450d AMG Line, on the other hand, is Rs 1 lakh more expensive than the standard diesel variant.

Sporty Exterior Details

The exterior of the GLS AMG Line features a redesigned front bumper with larger, more aggressive air intakes. The wheel arch cladding and side sill panels, typically black on the regular GLS, are now finished in body colour for a more integrated look.

At the rear, the bumper receives a sportier treatment, incorporating a diffuser-like insert in black, complemented by a sleek chrome strip. These elements collectively give the GLS a more athletic stance.

Refined Interior Upgrades

Inside the cabin, the most prominent change is the inclusion of a new AMG-spec steering wheel, featuring a distinctive twin-spoke design. This adds to the sporty feel of the interior.

Further enhancements include new stainless steel finish for the pedals and floor mats that proudly display AMG lettering, reinforcing the vehicle’s performance-inspired character.

Introducing the Night Package

For those seeking an even more distinctive look, Mercedes-Benz now offers an optional Night Package for the GLS. This package introduces a host of blacked-out elements.

These include black wing mirror caps, window line trim, and roof rails. The 21-inch alloy wheels also receive a dark finish, as do the four slats on the front grille, which are given a dark chrome treatment. Inside, the dashboard comes upholstered in elegant black leather.

Under the Hood: Unchanged Performance

The GLS AMG Line retains the powerful engine options from its standard siblings. It is powered by a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine, delivering 381hp and 500Nm of torque.

The diesel variant features a 3.0-litre inline-six diesel engine, which produces 367hp and an impressive 750Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, sending power to all four wheels.

Mercedes-Benz’s Strong Sales Performance

Alongside the launch, Mercedes-Benz also shared its robust sales results for the first quarter of FY2026. The German automaker sold 4,238 units between April and June, marking a healthy 10 percent year-on-year growth.

Sales were particularly strong for its top-end vehicles, which saw a 20 percent year-on-year increase during the same period. Electric Vehicle (EV) sales also surged by an impressive 157 percent year-on-year, driven by strong demand for models like the EQS SUV.
