Mercedes-Benz has just unveiled its first-ever all-electric estate, the new CLA Shooting Brake, combining luxury, advanced tech, and impressive range.

Meet Mercedes’ First Electric Estate

Mercedes-Benz is driving into a new era with the debut of its third-generation CLA Shooting Brake. This isn’t just any new model; it’s the brand’s very first all-electric estate, marking a significant shift in its lineup.

Beyond its electric powertrain, the new Shooting Brake is noticeably larger than its predecessor, promising more space and packing in a host of advanced technology.

Sleek New Design

The 2025 CLA Shooting Brake measures 4,723mm long, 1,855mm wide, and 1,469mm tall, making it bigger in every dimension compared to the outgoing model. Its wheelbase has also grown by 61mm, reaching 2,790mm, contributing to a more commanding presence.

From the front, its design closely mirrors the new CLA sedan. It features a connected LED headlight setup with Mercedes’ signature tri-star DRLs and a prominent grille that can be either conventional or a striking closed-off panel embedded with 142 illuminated stars, depending on the variant.

Along the sides, you’ll spot retractable door handles and aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels. The sleek rear boasts connected LED tail-lamps with tri-star signatures, a roof spoiler, and a smooth gloss black bumper, completing its modern look.

Step Inside: A Tech-Rich Cabin

Inside, the 2025 CLA Shooting Brake shares its cabin layout with the sedan, but with notable improvements for comfort. Rear passengers will appreciate an extra 26mm of headroom.

The boot capacity is also more generous, offering 455 litres, which can expand to a massive 1,290 litres when the rear seats are folded down. Even accessing the back seats is easier now, thanks to larger rear door openings.

The dashboard is dominated by a striking triple-screen setup. This includes a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 14-inch central infotainment system, and an optional 14-inch passenger display. The passenger screen offers entertainment like movies, TV shows, and games, or an illuminated star-pattern panel if not opted for.

A highlight is the expansive panoramic glass roof, stretching from the windshield to the rear spoiler. This dimmable roof features heat-insulating laminated safety glass, designed to keep the cabin comfortable in any weather. It’s also adorned with 158 illuminated stars, adding a touch of ambient luxury that matches the interior lighting.

Power and Performance

At launch, the 2025 CLA Shooting Brake will be available exclusively with electric powertrains. Both variants utilize an 85kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery pack.

The entry-level 250+ variant features a single rear-mounted motor, producing 272hp and 335Nm of torque. For more power, the 350 4Matic variant adds an extra motor on the front axle, providing all-wheel drive and boosting output to 354hp and 515Nm.

In terms of range, the 250+ variant boasts an impressive WLTP-claimed range of 761km on a single charge. The more powerful 350 4Matic still offers a substantial 730km range.

Thanks to Mercedes-Benz’s advanced 800V architecture, charging is incredibly fast. You can gain up to 310km of range in just 10 minutes when using a 320kW DC fast charger. AC charging is also supported at up to 22kW.

Performance is brisk for both models. The CLA 250+ Shooting Brake can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in a claimed 6.8 seconds, while the dual-motor 350 4Matic variant achieves the sprint in a swift 5 seconds flat. Both models share a top speed of 210kph.

When Can You Get One?

The 2025 CLA Shooting Brake is scheduled to launch in Europe in March 2026.

While this estate body style might not arrive in India due to market preferences, the CLA sedan is confirmed for an Indian launch by the end of 2025.

  • First all-electric estate from Mercedes-Benz.
  • Significantly larger and more spacious than its predecessor.
  • Features a triple-screen dashboard and a stunning illuminated panoramic glass roof.
  • Offers up to 761km of WLTP-claimed range with 800V fast-charging capability.
