The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has received a significant safety upgrade, now featuring six airbags as standard across all variants, with prices starting from Rs 7.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
Fronx Gets Six Airbags Standard
Maruti Suzuki has made a big move to boost the safety of its popular Fronx crossover. Previously, only the Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha trims came with six airbags.
Now, even the base Sigma and Delta trims include this crucial safety feature, ensuring enhanced protection for all passengers. This update has led to a uniform price increase of Rs 4,000 across most variants, except for the Delta+ petrol models.
More Standard Safety Features
Beyond the six airbags, the Fronx also offers other key safety features as standard. These include Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with hill hold assist, 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all occupants, and ISOFIX anchorages for child seats.
However, a reverse parking camera is still reserved for the higher-end Zeta trim and above.
Under the Hood: Engine Options
The Maruti Fronx continues to offer two engine choices to cater to different preferences. There’s a 1.2-liter, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 90hp and 113Nm of torque.
For those seeking more power, a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine is available, delivering 100hp and 147Nm. Both engines come standard with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The 1.2-liter petrol also offers an AMT option, while the turbo-petrol can be paired with a torque converter automatic. Additionally, a factory-fitted CNG kit is an option for the base Sigma and Delta trims, offering a more fuel-efficient choice.
Maruti’s Broad Safety Initiative
The Fronx is the latest in a series of Maruti Suzuki models to receive the six-airbag standard upgrade. Other popular vehicles like the Baleno, XL6, and Ertiga have already been updated.
This aligns with Maruti Suzuki Chairman R C Bhargava’s earlier statement that all Maruti cars would have six airbags as standard by the end of this year. Currently, only the Ignis from the Nexa lineup and the S-Presso from the Arena lineup are yet to receive this upgrade, and they are expected to follow suit soon.
