Veteran bowling coach Bharat Arun has officially joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), bringing his wealth of experience to the IPL franchise.

A New Chapter for LSG

The Lucknow Super Giants recently announced Bharat Arun as their new bowling coach, a significant move set to bolster their coaching ranks. Arun, a highly respected figure in the cricket world, expressed his honor in joining LSG, highlighting the franchise’s dedication to professionalism, ambition, and a clear vision.

In a statement on the team’s official website, the 62-year-old coach praised the discussions he had with Dr. Sanjiv Goenka and the management, noting their clear intent to invest in young Indian talent and build a long-term legacy.

Nurturing Young Indian Talent

What particularly excites Arun is LSG’s commitment to developing young Indian talent. He noted the franchise’s significant investment in a dynamic group of Indian fast bowlers.

This impressive roster includes names like Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav, Prince Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Akash Singh. Arun’s stated mission is to mold these promising cricketers into a cohesive, fearless, and tactically sharp pace unit, capable of challenging any batting lineup globally.

A Track Record of Success

Bharat Arun’s appointment comes with a strong pedigree, given his successful stints with various teams. He is widely acclaimed for his work as the bowling coach for the Indian national team, serving under Ravi Shastri from 2017 to 2021.

Before joining LSG, Arun also had a productive four-year tenure with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). His time with KKR was highlighted by their impressive Indian Premier League (IPL) title win in 2024, a significant achievement after more than a decade.

Transition from KKR

Despite the triumph, KKR faced a challenging season last year, finishing in a disappointing eighth place. This performance, coupled with the controversial decision to part ways with captain Shreyas Iyer, led to sharp criticism.

As KKR undergoes a significant coaching staff overhaul, with Abhishek Nayar and Dwayne Bravo reportedly taking key roles, both Arun and head coach Chandrakant Pandit decided to move on from the team.

LSG’s Future Leadership

While Arun’s role is confirmed, the Lucknow Super Giants have yet to clarify the future of their other prominent coaching staff members. The contracts for former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan, who serves as mentor, and former Australia opener Justin Langer, the head coach, are set to expire before the 2026 season.

LSG’s full coaching structure for the upcoming seasons remains a topic of anticipation as the team prepares for its next chapter.

  • Bharat Arun has been appointed as the new bowling coach for Lucknow Super Giants.
  • He previously served as bowling coach for the Indian national team and Kolkata Knight Riders, winning the IPL 2024 title with KKR.
  • Arun’s key focus at LSG will be to develop and mentor the franchise’s young Indian fast bowlers.
  • His move follows a coaching staff restructuring at his former team, Kolkata Knight Riders.
