Filmmaker Karan Johar recently showered praise on the new romantic drama “Saiyaara,” but his heartfelt review was met with a troll who labeled him “nepo babies ka daijaan,” prompting a swift and sharp retort from Johar.

Karan Johar’s Emotional Praise for “Saiyaara”

Karan Johar, known for his love for cinema, couldn’t hold back his admiration for Mohit Suri’s latest film, “Saiyaara,” which stars newcomers Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday. He took to Instagram, sharing how deeply the film moved him.

“I don’t remember the last time I felt like this after watching a film. Tears flowing and yet the feeling of immense joy,” Johar wrote. He expressed happiness that a love story had once again captivated audiences on the big screen.

Johar also commended his “Alma mater,” Yash Raj Films, for bringing love back to the industry. He specifically praised Aditya Chopra and debut producer Akshaye Widhani, calling himself a “YRF student for life.”

A Salute to the Director and New Talent

The acclaimed director didn’t stop there. He lauded Mohit Suri, stating that “Saiyaara” is the “best film of his career” and highlighting Suri’s masterful storytelling and the pivotal role of music in the movie.

He was particularly impressed by the lead actors. For Ahaan Panday, Johar wrote, “What a debut! You broke my heart and yet energised me as a filmmaker. Your eyes spoke volumes.” He welcomed Ahaan to the movies, calling him “spectacular.”

Aneet Padda also received high praise. Johar described her as “gorgeous and amazing,” noting that her “silences spoke volumes, and your vulnerability and strength moved me to tears.” He concluded by calling both Ahaan and Aneet “beyond magical!”

The “Nepo Baby” Barb and Karan’s Clapback

Ahaan Panday is the cousin of Ananya Panday, an actress whom Karan Johar launched with his 2019 production, “Student of the Year 2.” This connection, along with Johar’s history of launching new talent, often attracts comments regarding “nepotism.”

Following his glowing review, a troll commented on Johar’s post, calling him “nepo babies ka daijaan” (nanny of nepo babies). This time, Johar didn’t let it slide.

He fired back directly: “Chup kar!!! Ghar baithe baithee negativity mat paal! Do bachon ka kaam dekh !! Aur khud kuch kaam kar!!!” (Shut up! Don’t breed negativity sitting at home! Watch the work of the two kids! And do some work yourself!).

“Saiyaara” Shines at the Box Office

Despite the social media drama, “Saiyaara” has made an impressive mark at the box office. The film has become the highest opening film starring newcomers in Hindi cinema, collecting a remarkable Rs 83 crore over its opening weekend.

  • Karan Johar publicly praised the new romantic drama “Saiyaara.”
  • He lauded the film’s emotional impact, director Mohit Suri, and debut actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.
  • A troll called Johar “nepo babies ka daijaan” due to his history of launching star kids.
  • Johar responded sharply, telling the troll to focus on their own work instead of spreading negativity.
  • “Saiyaara” achieved a successful opening weekend, earning Rs 83 crore.

This incident highlights the ongoing debate surrounding nepotism in Bollywood and Karan Johar’s firm stance against online negativity.
