The Toyota Innova Hycross has emerged as a clear leader for the brand in India, significantly outselling its sibling, the Innova Crysta, in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026.

Toyota’s Strong Start to FY2026

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has reported robust sales figures for the April-June 2025 period, dispatching a total of 80,432 units across its hatchback, MPV, and SUV segments. This represents an impressive 18 percent year-on-year increase in sales.

SUVs and MPVs were the primary growth drivers, accounting for a substantial 84 percent of all sales, totaling 68,023 units. Leading this charge was the Innova brand, encompassing both the Hycross and Crysta models.

Innova Dominates the Sales Chart

Collectively, the Innova Hycross and Crysta sold 25,383 units in Q1 FY2026, making them Toyota’s best-selling models. They comfortably surpassed other popular vehicles in Toyota’s lineup.

For instance, the Innova duo outsold the Hyryder midsize SUV, which recorded 19,677 units. They also outpaced the Glanza hatchback (11,823 units), the popular Fortuner SUV (8,218 units), and the Urban Cruiser Taisor compact SUV (7,864 units).

Hycross Overtakes Crysta: A Clear Trend

The sales data for the Innova brand clearly shows a significant shift in demand towards the newer Hycross model over the past 15 months. Since its launch in November 2022, the Hycross has steadily gained ground.

In its initial five months of sales in FY2023, the Hycross contributed 11,351 units, making up 20 percent of total Innova sales. However, by FY2024, the Hycross had already surpassed the Crysta, selling 52,997 units compared to the Crysta’s 45,183 units.

This trend continued strongly into FY2025, where the Hycross further extended its lead. It sold 62,794 units, accounting for a 59 percent share of Innova sales, while the Crysta contributed 44,410 units, or 41 percent.

Hycross’s Dominant Performance in Q1 FY2026

The first quarter of the current fiscal year, April-June 2025, highlights the Hycross’s growing market dominance. During this period, Toyota dispatched 15,483 units of the Hycross, compared to 9,900 units of the Crysta.

This translates to the Hycross holding a strong 61 percent share of Innova sales, with the Crysta making up the remaining 39 percent. This marks a significant two-thirds lead for the Hycross over its predecessor.

Milestone Achieved and Future Outlook

The Innova Hycross reached a major milestone on November 22, 2024, exactly two years after its market debut. Toyota announced that the MPV had surpassed 100,000 sales in India, driven by consistent demand from both urban and smaller Tier 2/3 markets.

By the end of June 2025, cumulative wholesales for the Innova Hycross had reached 142,625 units. Given its current sales momentum, industry experts expect the Hycross to cross the 150,000 domestic sales mark by late July or early August this year, further solidifying its position in the Indian market.
