India’s U19 cricket team is set to face England in the fourth Youth ODI today, aiming to secure a decisive series victory against the hosts.
India Aims for Series Dominance
The young Indian squad, led by Ayush Mhatre, is looking to clinch the U19 ODI series against Thomas Rew’s England. After a dominant performance in the previous match, confidence is high within the Indian camp.
This match is crucial as it offers another chance for these budding cricketers to showcase their talent on the international stage, building experience for their future careers.
Suryavanshi’s Explosive Performance
The previous encounter saw a sensational performance from India’s Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Despite England posting a competitive 268 for six, thanks to captain Thomas Rew’s unbeaten 76, Suryavanshi’s batting stole the show.
The 14-year-old left-hander hammered an incredible 86 runs off just 31 deliveries. His innings included a blistering 20-ball fifty, setting a furious pace for India’s chase.
Suryavanshi’s knock was truly remarkable, featuring nine sixes and six fours. This explosive display helped India comfortably chase down the target in just 34.3 overs.
His 20-ball half-century is the second-fastest by an Indian in Youth ODIs, surpassed only by Rishabh Pant’s 18-ball fifty in 2016. Furthermore, his nine sixes set a new Indian record for the most maximums in a Youth ODI, eclipsing previous records held by Raj Angad Bawa and Mandeep Singh.
