Honda has surged ahead in the competitive Indian two-wheeler market, overtaking Hero to claim the top spot in bike and scooter sales for July 2025.
Honda Rides High
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) reported impressive sales of 466,331 units in July 2025. This marks a significant 19.94 percent increase compared to its June 2025 figures of 388,812 units.
The company also showed robust year-on-year growth, with a 6.20 percent rise over July 2024 sales of 439,118 units. Honda’s recent strategy includes a series of new launches, from premium models to mass-market hits like the CB125 Hornet and Shine 100 DX, aiming to solidify its leadership.
Hero Slips to Second
Hero MotoCorp, a long-time market leader, recorded 412,397 units in July 2025, placing it second. This represents a noticeable 21.47 percent decline from its strong performance in June 2025, which saw 525,136 units sold.
Despite the monthly dip, Hero’s year-on-year numbers show recovery, with an 18.66 percent increase compared to July 2024’s 347,535 units. The brand recently expanded its portfolio with the Xoom 125 scooter and the HF Deluxe Pro commuter bike.
TVS Secures Third Spot
TVS Motor Company maintained its third position with 308,720 units sold in July 2025. The Hosur-based manufacturer saw a 9.86 percent increase from June 2025 sales (281,012 units).
TVS also posted a strong 21.42 percent growth year-on-year compared to July 2024’s 254,250 units. It’s important to note that these figures do not include sales of the popular iQube, India’s bestselling electric scooter. Looking ahead, TVS has exciting plans, including the Apache RTX 300 adventure bike, a new entry-level electric scooter, and manufacturing the BMW F 450 GS for the Bavarian brand.
Bajaj’s Mixed Performance
Bajaj Auto experienced a slower July, selling 139,279 units. This is a 6.72 percent decrease from its June 2025 sales of 149,317 units, and a 17.51 percent decline compared to July 2024’s 168,847 units. The sales figures for Bajaj include its popular Chetak electric scooter.
Off the sales charts, Bajaj has been making significant strategic moves, recently becoming the majority owner of KTM’s parent company. The company also continues its successful partnership with Triumph, with an upcoming Speed 400-based cafe racer expected soon.
Suzuki Holds Steady
Suzuki Motorcycle India sold 96,029 units in July 2025, remaining close to the one-lakh unit mark. This represents a marginal 0.82 percent rise from June 2025 sales of 95,244 units.
However, Suzuki did see a slight decline of 4.55 percent compared to its July 2024 performance of 100,602 units. The company is set to enter the electric scooter segment with its new e-Access and is working on an updated Burgman scooter, following changes seen in the 2025 Access.
Royal Enfield’s Consistent Ride
Royal Enfield maintained its consistent sales performance, moving 76,254 units in July 2025. This is a minor 0.91 percent decrease from June 2025 (76,957 units).
Significantly, Royal Enfield reported a strong 24.58 percent increase year-on-year compared to July 2024, when it sold 61,208 units. The brand recently updated its Hunter 350 and has a packed pipeline, including a new 250cc platform, the ‘Flying Flea’ electric models, and several 750cc bikes, starting with the Continental GT-R.
