The highly anticipated Honda Africa Twin is set to make its comeback to the Indian market in 2026, potentially in more versions than before.

The Africa Twin Returns to India

Honda’s formidable adventure touring motorcycle, the CRF1100L Africa Twin, was previously available in India but quietly exited the market when BS6 Phase 2 emission norms came into effect. Enthusiasts can now rejoice as the big ADV is slated for a grand return next year.

This time, Honda might shake things up by not just bringing back the popular Adventure Sports variant, but also introducing the standard Africa Twin for the first time in India. This move could broaden its appeal and accessibility for a wider range of riders.

Updates to the 2025 Africa Twin Range

Globally, the 2025 Africa Twin range comes with some notable enhancements. All models now feature convenient tubeless spoke wheels, a significant upgrade for off-road riding and puncture repairs.

Under the hood, the 1083cc liquid-cooled parallel twin engine now produces slightly more torque. This minor tweak promises an even more engaging and responsive riding experience, especially beneficial for adventure touring.

Standard vs. Adventure Sports: What to Expect

Previously, Indian riders only had access to the Adventure Sports version, which is known for its premium features. This variant boasts a larger 24.8-litre fuel tank, taller suspension for more ground clearance, and higher-spec trims with electronically adjustable suspension.

The standard Africa Twin, on the other hand, offers a more road-biased setup. It features a smaller 18.8-litre fuel tank, a shorter windscreen, and a 19-inch front wheel compared to the Adventure Sports’ 21-inch unit. This lighter and potentially more agile version could be a great fit for Indian roads and offer a more manageable option for many.

Both the standard and Adventure Sports models are powered by the same 1083cc engine, delivering 101hp at 7,500rpm and 112Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. Weight-wise, the base Africa Twin comes in at 233kg, while the Adventure Sport DCT version weighs 253kg.

Both variants are available with a choice of a traditional manual gearbox or Honda’s sophisticated Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). It remains to be seen which specific configurations Honda will bring to India.

  • The Honda Africa Twin is confirmed for a 2026 return to India.
  • It may launch with both the standard and Adventure Sports variants for the first time.
  • All new models feature tubeless spoke wheels and slightly more torque.
  • Both versions share the same powerful 1083cc engine.

The return of the Africa Twin, especially with the possibility of the standard variant, is exciting news for adventure motorcycle enthusiasts across India.
