Royal Enfield has increased the price of its popular tubeless cross-spoke wheels for new Himalayan 450 buyers, although the hike is less severe than what existing owners have faced.
The Initial Shock: Price Hike for Existing Owners
Royal Enfield was initially lauded for making cross-spoke wheels incredibly accessible. These practical additions for the Himalayan 450 were originally priced at just Rs 12,424, including taxes.
However, that affordability changed last month. Royal Enfield significantly hiked the price of these cross-spoke wheels to over Rs 40,000. This steep increase primarily affected existing Himalayan 450 owners who wanted to upgrade from their tubed spoke wheels.
At the time, new buyers still had the advantage, able to add the cross-spoke setup at the original, lower price through Royal Enfield’s “Make It Yours” (MIY) configurator when purchasing their new bike.
New Price for New Buyers
Now, Royal Enfield has adjusted the price for new buyers as well. The cross-spoke wheels selected via the MIY configurator now cost Rs 17,350. This represents a Rs 4,924 increase from the previous Rs 12,424.
While this is a notable bump, it’s crucial to put it in perspective. The hike for new buyers is considerably less drastic than the over Rs 40,000 price tag existing owners are now quoted for the same wheels.
Still a Smart Investment?
Even with this revised price, the Rs 17,350 asking price for the cross-spoke wheels remains quite attractive. When compared to alternatives in the market, such as the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC’s cross-spoke wheels, which can cost over Rs 35,000 each when bought separately, Royal Enfield’s offering still feels like good value.
The real-world utility of tubeless cross-spoke wheels for adventure riders is undeniable. They make puncture repairs much simpler and quicker, a significant advantage for off-road enthusiasts.
Despite the recent increase, these wheels continue to be a cost-effective option, even when compared to many aftermarket tubeless conversion kits. However, it’s worth noting the considerable price disparity, as existing owners now pay Rs 23,295 more for the same wheels compared to new buyers opting for them via the MIY configurator.
- New Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 buyers now pay Rs 17,350 for tubeless cross-spoke wheels.
- This is a Rs 4,924 increase for new buyers from the previous Rs 12,424.
- Existing owners face a much steeper price of over Rs 40,000 for the same wheels.
- Despite the hike, the option for new buyers remains competitive and offers strong practical utility.
This tiered pricing strategy continues to create a significant difference in cost for Royal Enfield customers looking to equip their Himalayan 450 with these popular wheels.
