Honda has just launched the new Shine 100 DX, an upgraded variant of its popular 100cc commuter motorcycle, designed to offer more style and practicality for daily riders.
Enhanced Features for a Better Ride
The Shine 100 DX brings several notable improvements over the standard model. One key addition is the new LCD digital display, which provides useful real-time information like mileage and distance-to-empty readings.
Riders will also appreciate the inclusion of 17-inch tubeless tyres for added convenience and safety. For a more comfortable journey, the rear shock absorbers are now preload-adjustable.
Safety has been boosted with a side-stand engine cut-off feature, preventing accidental starts when the stand is down.
Style and Practicality Upgrades
Visually, the Shine 100 DX receives a more premium look. It features elegant chrome garnish around the headlamp and a chrome muffler cover, adding a touch of sophistication.
The engine and grab rail are now finished in black, providing a sleek, cohesive appearance, complemented by revised graphics. Responding to customer feedback, Honda has also equipped the DX variant with a wider, 10-liter fuel tank, an increase of one liter from the standard Shine 100, meaning fewer fuel stops.
Unchanged, Reliable Performance
Underneath its refreshed exterior, the Shine 100 DX retains the same reliable powertrain. It is powered by the familiar 98.98cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine.
This engine delivers 7.3 horsepower and 8.04 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth 4-speed gearbox, ensuring efficient and dependable performance for city commutes.
Pricing and Availability Details
The Honda Shine 100 DX will be available in four attractive color options: black, red, blue, and grey. Bookings for this new variant are set to commence from August 1.
While the official price is yet to be announced, it is expected to be positioned above the base Shine 100, which currently retails at Rs 68,862 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Competing in the Commuter Segment
With its enhanced features and stylish additions, the Shine 100 DX is Honda’s strategic move to offer a more compelling option in the competitive 100cc commuter segment.
It aims to bridge the gap between basic commuters and more feature-rich alternatives. This new variant is poised to compete directly with segment leaders, most notably the Hero Splendor range, which continues to dominate the market.
