Filmmaker Farah Khan recently visited actor Sonu Sood’s new Mumbai home, leading to a delightful reunion filled with laughter, nostalgic anecdotes from their film *Happy New Year*, and a tour of his impressive abode.
A Warm Welcome at Sonu’s Home
Farah Khan, accompanied by her cook Dilip, recently caught up with her long-time friend Sonu Sood at his new residence. The two shared playful banter right from the start, with Farah teasing Sonu about his busy schedule and Sonu returning the jab about Farah’s own popularity.
Sonu’s wife and producer, Sonali Sood, also joined the reunion. Farah recalled a past incident when she visited Sonali after a severe car accident, expressing her amazement at Sonali’s miraculous recovery.
A Peek Inside the Sood Residence
During the house tour, Farah was introduced to Sonu and Sonali’s tall sons, Ishant and Ayaan. She was particularly impressed by a large canvas painting of a car created by Ishant, playfully asking if he “fooled his dad” into thinking he made it.
The tour also highlighted a unique thread art piece gifted by a fan and a massive sneaker collection, which Sonu shares with his sons. Farah noted how much the boys had grown, joking, “Where are the little ones now? They’re so tall!”
Reliving “Happy New Year” Memories
While making avocado toast and chickpea wraps, the duo reminisced about their time shooting the 2014 blockbuster *Happy New Year*. Farah lightheartedly shared that despite being Punjabi, Sonu maintained a strict salad-only diet for the entire 150-day shoot.
Sonu then recounted a hilarious incident from their Dubai shoot at the Atlantis hotel. Farah had expressed a desire to swim, but after spotting Shah Rukh Khan’s Bengali staff swimming in their trunks, she famously declared she would never enter a swimming pool again. This encounter apparently inspired Farah to build a swimming pool at her own home!
The exhausting promotional tour for *Happy New Year* also came up. Farah recalled months of intense PR, including a 40-day tour, a three-week glam tour, and even a TV show. The exhaustion was so profound that during the film’s premiere in Dubai, the entire cast, sitting in the front row, fell asleep within five minutes of the movie starting!
Beyond the Big Screen
Sonu Sood also touched upon his widely acclaimed humanitarian work, particularly his efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic. He revealed that he still has the contact details of every person he helped, noting that he facilitated the return of 723,000 migrants to their villages.
Farah congratulated Sonu on his directorial debut, *Fateh*, which she noted was a massive hit on OTT. Sonu excitingly announced that a sequel to *Fateh* is already in the works and will be announced soon. Farah also shared a funny anecdote from Sonu’s 2017 film *Kung Fu Yoga* with Jackie Chan, recalling how Sonu replaced a choreographer with her for the film.
