Audi’s much-anticipated Formula 1 entry in 2026 now has a major partner, with financial technology giant Revolut joining as its title sponsor.

Audi’s Grand F1 Debut in 2026

Audi is set to make its full works team debut in Formula 1 in 2026, transforming the current Sauber team. This timing aligns perfectly with significant new regulations coming into effect across the sport.

The 2026 rules bring sweeping changes, particularly to the power units. They will feature a 50 percent contribution from the internal combustion engine and 50 percent from battery power. Additionally, active aerodynamics and a commitment to 100 percent sustainable fuel will be introduced, marking a new era for F1.

Revolut: More Than Just a Sponsor

The partnership between Audi and Revolut goes beyond traditional sponsorship. Revolut will be deeply integrated into the F1 team’s financial operations, handling key aspects of their transactions. It will also power the checkout solutions for team merchandise, making fan purchases seamless.

Jonathan Wheatley, the Audi F1 team principal, emphasized this integration. He stated that Revolut’s “digital-first solutions will power key areas of our operations while also redefining how fans and communities engage with our team – delivering a seamless and engaging experience on and off the track.”

Both Audi and Revolut are actively exploring innovative ways to connect fans with the sport. This could include unique experiences and exclusive benefits specifically for Revolut customers, enhancing fan engagement like never before.

Strategic Leadership and New UK Hub

The Audi F1 team will operate under a dual leadership structure to ensure comprehensive development and efficient race operations. Former Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto oversees the factory and overall development, while Jonathan Wheatley, previously Red Bull’s sporting director, leads race operations on track.

As part of its preparations, Audi recently opened a new technology centre in the UK. This facility is strategically located in ‘Motorsport Valley,’ an area renowned for housing seven of the current ten F1 teams, making it a hub for motorsport talent and innovation.

While the team’s headquarters remain in Hinwil, Switzerland, and the new power unit is being developed in Germany, the UK facility is crucial. Binotto explained that it allows Audi to tap into the rich talent pool available in Motorsport Valley, significantly strengthening the team’s technical capabilities ahead of its big entry.

  • Audi’s F1 team will debut in 2026 under new regulations.
  • Revolut is the title partner, integrating into financial operations and fan engagement.
  • New F1 rules include advanced hybrid power units and sustainable fuel.
  • Audi has opened a new UK technology centre in ‘Motorsport Valley’ to enhance its technical expertise.

The partnership with Revolut and the strategic investments in facilities underscore Audi’s serious commitment to making a significant impact when it joins the elite ranks of Formula 1.
