Ather Energy has just launched a new variant of its popular 450S electric scooter, the 450S 3.7kWh, bringing a larger battery and extended range to the affordable S-series.
A Bigger Battery for More Range
The most significant upgrade in the new Ather 450S 3.7kWh is its larger 3.7kWh battery pack. This is the same powerful battery that was previously exclusive to Ather’s premium 450X model, now making its way to the more accessible 450S line.
Thanks to this battery boost, the scooter now boasts an impressive IDC-certified range of 161 kilometers. This is a considerable jump from the 115km offered by the standard 450S 2.9kWh variant, giving riders more confidence for longer commutes.
Unchanged Performance and Core Features
While the battery capacity has grown, the performance figures remain consistent with the existing 450S. The electric motor continues to deliver 5.4kW of power and 22Nm of torque. This allows the scooter to accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in a swift 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 90 kmph.
Riders can choose from four distinct ride modes to suit their preferences: Smart Eco, Eco, Ride, and Sport. These modes adjust the scooter’s performance to optimize for either efficiency or spirited riding.
The new 450S 3.7kWh also retains the sleek, sharp styling and physical dimensions of its sibling. It features 12-inch wheels on both ends, contributing to its agile handling. The scooter comes equipped with a 7-inch LCD dashboard, offering turn-by-turn navigation, hill-hold assist, and a Fall Safe feature for enhanced rider safety. It also supports AtherStack OTA (Over-The-Air) software updates, ensuring the scooter stays up-to-date with the latest features.
Pricing and Warranty Details
The Ather 450S 3.7kWh is priced at Rs 1.46 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). This new variant is Rs 16,000 more expensive than the 450S 2.9kWh model, reflecting the cost of the larger battery and extended range.
Ather Energy is also offering its ‘Eight70’ warranty package with this scooter. This comprehensive warranty covers the battery for 8 years or 80,000 kilometers, guaranteeing a minimum of 70 percent battery health throughout the period. Bookings are now open online and at Ather dealerships, with deliveries expected to commence in August 2025.
