A Dream Collaboration Unfolds

The highly anticipated film “Ramayana” is set to feature Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The news of AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, both celebrated Oscar winners, joining forces for the film’s music has created a buzz among fans and industry insiders alike.

Rahman recently spoke about this monumental collaboration, expressing his immense pride in being part of such a significant project. “Who would have imagined scoring with Hans Zimmer on a project like Ramayana, which is one of the biggest projects,” he remarked. “It’s our Indian culture and I am really proud of that project. I hope that everything goes well.”

Embracing Change While Staying True

In a recent interview, Rahman also touched upon his evolving approach to music in a rapidly changing industry. He shared his belief in constant reinvention, stating, “I think I am born everyday. The whole world is changing everyday. A few thoughts have to go and new thoughts have to come.”

Despite these continuous shifts, Rahman emphasized that his fundamental beliefs and core artistic intentions remain steadfast. He noted that while the essence of his music stays the same, external factors like studios, artists, recording methods, and projects are always evolving.

The Global Symphony Sessions

Shedding light on the creative process with Hans Zimmer, Rahman described their initial sessions as “great.” Their collaboration has spanned multiple international locations, with sessions held in London, Los Angeles, and Dubai. Rahman humorously added that he finds a base wherever Zimmer travels, highlighting their synchronized work dynamic.

Rahman praised Zimmer’s curious nature and openness to new ideas and even criticism. He noted that Zimmer is very receptive to understanding different cultures and is open to incorporating a Western perspective when needed, ensuring a unique blend of musical styles for the film.
