Andhra Pradesh has signed tourism project deals worth INR 500 crore, aiming to boost the state’s travel and hospitality sector significantly.
A Major Boost for Andhra Pradesh Tourism
In a significant move for the state’s travel industry, Andhra Pradesh recently inked deals totaling INR 500 crore for various tourism projects. The agreements were finalized at the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Investors Programme held at Gandikota Fort in Kadapa district.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was present as the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Corporation sealed these deals with prominent names like Ease My Trip, Hilton Hotels, and other organizations. These investments are set to establish new tourism facilities across the state.
The projects aren’t just about building hotels. They also aim to introduce exciting adventure sports like kayaking and jet skiing. Key locations targeted for development include Gandikota, Srisailam, Mantralayam, and Tirupati, promising a diverse range of experiences for visitors.
Strategic Vision for Growth
During the event, Chief Minister Naidu virtually laid the foundation for several tourism projects, backed by Central Government schemes such as Swadesh Darshan and SASKY. These initiatives will benefit sites like Gandikota, Borra Caves, Ahobilam, and Nagarjuna Sagar.
The Chief Minister encouraged investors to leverage the state’s tourism policy, highlighting that tourism projects are now granted infrastructure status. This provides a strong incentive for further investment and development.
Naidu emphasized the state’s vast potential for various tourism segments, including eco-tourism, adventure travel, cruises, wellness retreats, caravan tours, golf, heritage sites, and temple tourism. This broad appeal aims to attract a wide range of visitors.
Key Destinations and Future Plans
Andhra Pradesh has identified seven “anchor hubs” for focused development: Visakhapatnam, Araku Valley, Rajamahendravaram, Amaravati, Srisailam, and Gandikota. These hubs will serve as central points for tourism activities.
Additionally, the state has announced 25 thematic circuits to enhance tourist experiences. There are plans for eight state-level tourism events, complemented by various district-wise programs to promote local attractions.
A master plan is also being formulated specifically for Gandikota, often referred to as the ‘Grand Canyon of India’ due to its stunning natural beauty. The goal is to transform it into a world-class tourism destination.
A foundation stone was laid for a tourism development project in Gandikota under the SASKY scheme, valued at INR 78 crore. This project includes the construction of luxury hotels to accommodate the anticipated influx of visitors.
