Actor Rajesh Kumar, known for his roles in “Sarabhai vs Sarabhai” and “Kota Factory,” recently shared details about his past struggles with bankruptcy and a significant Rs 2 crore debt.

A Blockbuster Comeback

Rajesh Kumar is currently enjoying the success of his latest film, “Saiyaara.” The romantic drama, directed by Mohit Suri, has been a massive hit, crossing the Rs 400 crore milestone worldwide.

This success marks a significant return to the spotlight for Kumar, who plays a supporting role in the film. He expressed immense gratitude for the film’s performance and how it has brought him back into public view.

The Farming Dream and Harsh Reality

A few years ago, Rajesh decided to step away from acting and pursue farming. He wanted to challenge the perception that farming is only for those with no other options, aiming to inspire a new mindset.

However, his venture was quickly met with severe challenges. Unfavorable weather conditions and the onset of the global pandemic hit his farming business hard, leading to significant financial losses.

Facing Bankruptcy and Debt

The financial strain became immense. Rajesh revealed he went bankrupt, accumulating a staggering Rs 2 crore in debt. At one point, his bank account held a mere Rs 2,500.

He described the period as one where the “incoming and outgoing flow had gone for a toss.” He had exhausted all his savings and struggled to generate money even for basic survival. During this difficult phase, he relied heavily on his family’s unwavering support.

A Personal Low Point

The financial difficulties were so severe that simple acts became impossible. Rajesh recalled being in the UK for a film shoot, “Binny and Family,” and despite traveling back and forth, he couldn’t afford small gifts for his children.

“I couldn’t bring back even two chocolates for my kids,” he shared, highlighting the depth of his financial crisis at the time.

Farming’s Unexpected Impact on Acting

Interestingly, Rajesh believes his challenging farming experience made him a better actor. He now draws upon the real emotions and hardships he faced during that period for his roles.

“Now, whenever my role demands emotions, I simply remember my farming days and tear up,” he explained. He humorously added that instead of imagining conventional sad scenarios, he just thinks, “The farm caught fire the other day,” to evoke tears.

  • Rajesh Kumar faced bankruptcy and Rs 2 crore in debt after quitting acting for farming in 2019.

  • He is currently enjoying renewed success with the blockbuster film “Saiyaara.”

Rajesh Kumar’s journey is a powerful reminder of resilience and finding strength even in the toughest times, ultimately leading to a triumphant return to the screen.
