Deepak Dobriyal takes on a unique role as a woman in the upcoming action-comedy ‘Son of Sardaar 2’. His portrayal was incredibly realistic, so much so that many on set genuinely believed he was a woman in real life.
Fellow actor Sanjay Mishra humorously recalled his initial reaction upon seeing Dobriyal dressed up, mistaking him for actress Kubbra Sait. He later realized the “beautiful woman” was actually Dobriyal, highlighting just how convincing his look was.
Gaining Admirers on Set
The film’s lead, Ajay Devgn, confirmed Dobriyal’s stunning transformation, noting how “surprisingly beautiful” he looked. Co-star Ravi Kishan added that Dobriyal appeared like a “proper woman,” captivating a large portion of the film crew.
Kishan even shared a comical anecdote about a 6.5-foot Sardar man who became so smitten that he expressed a desire to marry Dobriyal. For the entire 40-day shoot, Dobriyal’s commitment to his character and appearance was truly remarkable, making him the center of attention.
Staying in Character, Even Off-Camera
Devgn revealed that Dobriyal often remained in his elaborate female costume and wig even after filming wrapped for the day, including during cast dinners. Dobriyal explained that his hotel was far, making it easier to stay in character rather than change for a quick meal.
This dedication naturally drew extra attention, leading to many amusing moments and interactions wherever he went.
The Hilarious Washroom Mix-Up
Mrunal Thakur, the film’s leading lady, admitted she would blush seeing Dobriyal in his female attire. She also shared the cast’s anxiety when Dobriyal, still dressed as a woman, would enter the men’s washroom.
Ajay Devgn chimed in, recalling the screams from inside. Dobriyal then recounted a memorable incident where a woman, who had accidentally entered the men’s washroom, saw him and immediately assumed he was also a woman. She grabbed his hand, trying to lead him to the ladies’ washroom. Devgn quickly had to intervene, shouting, “No no no, he’s a boy!” saving Dobriyal from a potentially awkward situation.
