Bollywood actor Ananya Panday, known for rarely shedding tears, surprised everyone by getting emotional while watching her cousin Ahaan Panday’s debut film, “Saiyaara,” which has already become a massive box office success.
“Saiyaara” Dominates the Box Office
Mohit Suri’s romantic drama “Saiyaara,” featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has made an impressive splash at the box office. The film, backed by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films, earned a staggering Rs 45 crore domestically within just two days of its release.
This remarkable performance makes “Saiyaara” the highest-grossing Hindi film to date starring debutant actors, signaling a strong start for its new leads.
A Family Affair: The Lead-Up to Release
The excitement surrounding Ahaan’s debut was captured in a special vlog by his sister, popular social media influencer Alanna Panday, and her husband, Ivor McCray. Titled “My BROTHER’S first movie launch day! #Saiyaara vlog,” the video gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the Panday family’s preparations.
The vlog kicked off with a traditional havan at their home two days before the film’s premiere. Ahaan expressed missing his paternal grandmother, whose portrait was present, and his father, Chikki Panday, shared a sweet anecdote about Ahaan’s childhood mischief during similar ceremonies.
The family moments continued with Alanna’s one-year-old son, River, bonding with his uncle Ahaan. River, affectionately dubbed “Krish Kapoor’s biggest fan” (Krish being Ahaan’s character), even sported a special t-shirt. Ivor also provided comic relief by attempting to sing the “Saiyaara” title track in broken Hindi, much to his wife’s amusement.
Emotional Premiere: A Flood of Tears
The family, including Aneet Padda and her parents, gathered at the mini theatre at Yash Raj Studios for the film’s first screening. Even before the lights dimmed, lead actress Aneet confessed to feeling “nerve-wracking” jitters alongside Ahaan.
During the screening, Ivor playfully showed River Ahaan on the big screen, eliciting a chuckle from the little one. Afterward, emotions ran high as the Panday family hugged Ahaan and Aneet, admitting they were all in tears throughout the movie.
Ananya Panday’s Rare Tears
The next day, the extended Panday family watched “Saiyaara” on the big screen. It was here that Ananya Panday was seen openly weeping, a rare sight according to her. “I never cry!” she confessed to the camera, with Alanna confirming that Ananya didn’t even cry during the birth of her first child. Ananya jokingly added that she had to “poke her eyes” to cry at Alanna and Ivor’s wedding.
Ananya also shared her admiration for Ahaan’s performance, stating she couldn’t differentiate between him and his character, Krish. Her mother, Bhavana Pandey, echoed this sentiment, praising Ahaan’s portrayal. Chunky Panday, Ananya’s father and Ahaan’s uncle, was seen exuberantly dancing in celebration. Even Bobby Deol made an appearance, joining the family in congratulating the debutant.
