Bollywood superstar Salman Khan recently shared an incredible story about his very first bike, which he painstakingly built himself over a month and a half, only for it to meet an unexpected end in a Film City lake.

A DIY Dream on Two Wheels

During a recent event in Mumbai, where he was announced as the brand ambassador for the Indian Supercross League, Salman Khan reminisced about his early days. While still in college, he harbored a strong desire to own a bike.

Instead of buying one, the young Salman decided to embark on an ambitious project: building his own “jugadu” (improvised) motorcycle from scratch. This was no small feat, taking him nearly two months of dedicated effort.

Assembling the Unique Ride

Salman sourced various parts to bring his vision to life. He acquired a 125 CC engine from his childhood friend and fellow actor, Salim Khan (also known as Ding Dong). For tires, he opted for old Bullet ones, picking them up from a garage in Maharashtra owned by Dilawar Khan, a stuntman whom Salman called his cousin.

He even used a frame from another motorcycle, piecing everything together. Salman described the process as hands-on, spending considerable time assembling the parts, making it a truly personal creation. He even used paint from his dad’s car to finish it off.

A Brief Moment of Glory

After weeks of hard work, Salman finally had his unique dirtbike. He proudly rode it, enjoying the fruit of his labor. However, his ownership was fleeting.

One day, while riding near Carter Road, he encountered his friend Salim. Salman explained that the bike was built from the very engine Salim had given him. The next morning, without Salman’s knowledge, Salim took the bike while Salman was asleep.

The Bike’s Watery End

Later, Salman learned the shocking fate of his homemade bike. Salim had taken it to supply for a film stunt, where it was used in a scene that required it to be flown into Film City lake. The bike plunged into the water, never to be recovered.

Salman shared that he only got to ride his meticulously built bike once before its unexpected demise. Despite the humorous recounting, it was clear the incident marked the end of his unique first motorcycle.

Key Takeaways

  • Salman Khan’s first bike was a “jugadu” (improvised) creation, built by him.
  • It took him approximately 1.5 months to assemble the bike from various salvaged parts.
  • His friend, actor Salim Khan (Ding Dong), took the bike without permission.
  • The bike was used in a film stunt and ended up submerged in Film City lake.

This early experience highlights Salman Khan’s hands-on nature and his enduring passion for motorcycles, a passion he still holds today as a well-known collector of high-end bikes.
