Kia has officially launched its first India-produced electric vehicle, the Carens Clavis EV, with prices starting from Rs. 17.99 lakh.
India Launch & Pricing
The highly anticipated Kia Carens Clavis EV has made its debut in India, with an All India Ex-showroom price starting at Rs. 17.99 lakh. This marks Kia’s first locally manufactured electric vehicle in the country.
Bookings for this unique three-row electric vehicle are set to open on July 22. It will be available in four distinct variants and a choice of six attractive colors, offering flexibility for various customer preferences.
Sleek Design & Spacious Interior
True to its original teaser, the Carens Clavis EV retains the familiar and stylish exterior and interior design language of its petrol-powered sibling. It will be offered in both six-seat and seven-seat configurations, catering to families and groups.
Key exterior features include a distinctive grille-less front, aerodynamically designed 16-inch and 17-inch wheels, and the signature connected tail lamps seen across Kia’s latest models. Inside, the cabin layout and dimensions are consistent with the ICE Carens, boasting dual digital screens, comfortable seating, and a panoramic sunroof for an airy feel.
Powerful Electric Performance
The Clavis EV offers two battery options. A 51.4kWh Extended Range battery provides a claimed range of 490km, while a 42kWh Standard Range battery offers a claimed range of 404km.
Both battery packs are paired with an electric motor that delivers a robust 170bhp and 255Nm of torque, powering the front wheels. Kia has integrated advanced features like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, i-pedal, and a four-stage regenerative braking system controlled via paddle shifters to enhance efficiency and driving experience.
For convenient charging, the battery system supports both 7.4kWh and 11.2kWh fast chargers, ensuring quicker top-ups.
Packed with Features & Safety
The top-spec Carens Clavis EV is loaded with an impressive list of features for comfort and convenience. This includes Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems), dual digital screens, powered and ventilated front seats, and a one-touch electric tumble function for the second row.
Other highlights include connected car technology, a full LED lighting package, power-adjustable mirrors, an auto-dimming IRVM, and a vibrant 64-shade ambient lighting system. A multi-speaker music system ensures an enjoyable audio experience.
Safety is a priority, with all variants equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, stability program, speed-sensing door locks, ISOFIX child seat mounting points, and three-point seat belts for all occupants, ensuring comprehensive protection.
Kia’s Commitment to EVs
As Kia’s first “made-in-India” EV, the Carens Clavis EV is supported by an extensive network. Kia has established over 250 EV-ready service points and upgraded 100 dealerships across the country to cater to electric vehicle sales and service needs.
