The Hyundai Aura compact sedan has launched a new S AMT variant in India, offering an accessible automatic option at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 8.07 lakh.

Understanding the New S AMT Variant

This new S AMT trim is positioned as an entry-level automatic choice, designed for buyers who prioritize convenience, especially in city driving. It is priced at Rs. 70,000 more than its manual counterpart, the S MT variant, but carries the same comprehensive feature list.

Under the hood, the Aura S AMT is powered by Hyundai’s proven 1.2-litre engine. This efficient unit delivers 82 bhp of power and 114 Nm of torque, ensuring a balanced performance for daily commutes.

The engine is mated to a five-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) system. This setup provides a smooth and effortless driving experience, removing the need for manual gear shifts and clutch operation.

A Competitive Edge in Pricing

One of the most significant aspects of the Aura S AMT is its aggressive pricing. At Rs. 8.07 lakh, it stands out as the most affordable automatic variant among its direct competitors in the compact sedan segment.

When compared to its chief rivals, the Aura S AMT offers a clear price advantage. The entry-level automatic variant of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire is priced higher at Rs. 8.34 lakh, and the Honda Amaze’s automatic starts even higher at Rs. 9.39 lakh.

While the Tata Tigor offers an automatic variant at a lower price point of Rs. 7.35 lakh, it is generally considered to be in a slightly different segment. This makes the Aura S AMT a compelling choice for those seeking an automatic compact sedan within this competitive market.

Key Features for Safety and Convenience

Despite being an entry-level automatic, the Aura S AMT is well-equipped with essential features, mirroring those found in its S MT sibling. Hyundai has prioritized both safety and convenience in this variant.

Safety features include six airbags, providing enhanced protection for occupants. It also comes with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which helps maintain vehicle stability, and a Highline Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for added safety awareness.

For convenience and modern aesthetics, the Aura S AMT features LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) and power-adjustable mirrors with integrated Outside Rear-View Mirrors (ORVMs).

Hyundai’s Vision for Accessible Mobility

Commenting on the launch, Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor India Limited, reiterated the company’s commitment to making smart mobility accessible. He highlighted that the introduction of the advanced AMT transmission in the Aura S variant reflects Hyundai’s ongoing efforts to “democratise technology and enhance convenience for customers.”

This strategic move aims to redefine value in the entry segment by offering a blend of superior comfort, safety, performance, and convenience, all at an affordable price point for Indian consumers.
