Olympic medalist Saina Nehwal and former shuttler Parupalli Kashyap have announced their decision to separate after over five years of marriage.

An Unforeseen Announcement

Saina Nehwal shared the news via an Instagram story on Sunday night, revealing the couple’s mutual decision to part ways. She wrote, “Life takes us in different directions sometimes,” indicating a choice for “peace, growth, and healing” for both herself and Kashyap.

A Journey Shared On and Off Court

Saina and Kashyap’s relationship began long before their marriage on December 14, 2018. Their connection was forged on the badminton court, as they trained side-by-side from their early days at the renowned Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad.

Both became prominent figures in Indian badminton, achieving significant milestones in their respective careers.

Distinguished Badminton Legacies

Saina Nehwal is widely celebrated as one of India’s greatest badminton players. She etched her name in history by securing an Olympic bronze medal at London 2012, becoming the first Indian badminton player to achieve this feat.
