Anurag Basu’s latest film, Metro… In Dino, has shown a resilient performance at the box office, gathering over Rs 24.44 crore in its first six days, even amidst a highly competitive release schedule.

Metro… In Dino’s Box Office Journey Unpacked

The film, featuring a star-studded cast including Sara Ali Khan and Aditya Roy Kapur, started its theatrical run by collecting Rs 3 crore on its opening Friday. It saw a significant boost over the weekend, with collections surging by 71 percent.

On Saturday, the film earned Rs 6 crore, followed by Rs 7.25 crore on Sunday. However, typical for weekday trends, earnings dropped on Monday to Rs 2.5 crore. It then maintained a similar pace, bringing in Rs 3 crore on Tuesday and Rs 2.19 crore on Wednesday, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 24.44 crore within six days.

The movie recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 14.59 percent. Night shows witnessed the highest footfall at 18.61 percent, followed by evening shows at 16.33 percent and afternoon shows at 15.06 percent.

Navigating a Crowded Release Landscape

Metro… In Dino has managed to attract urban audiences, benefiting from positive word-of-mouth and favorable critical reviews. This is noteworthy given the intense competition it faces from several major releases.

One of its biggest rivals is the Hollywood blockbuster Jurassic World Rebirth, which premiered on the same day. In its first six days, Jurassic World Rebirth has garnered an impressive Rs 50.95 crore, more than double Metro… In Dino’s collection.

Adding to the challenge is Brad Pitt’s F1: The Movie, which is in its second week and has already collected Rs 58.38 crore. Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par also continues its strong run, earning Rs 1.25 crore on its 20th day and accumulating a total of Rs 153.25 crore domestically.

Trade analysts, like Taran Adarsh, have noted that while the film showed encouraging weekend trends in urban centers, its sustained success depends heavily on maintaining steady collections during the weekdays.

Surpassing Fellow Bollywood Releases

Despite the formidable competition, Metro… In Dino has successfully outperformed some other recent Bollywood films. It has now surpassed the lifetime domestic collection of Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency, which ended its run at Rs 23.75 crore, compared to Metro… In Dino’s Rs 24.44 crore.

The film has also moved ahead of John Abraham’s The Diplomat. In its first six days, The Diplomat had collected Rs 17.75 crore, placing Metro… In Dino’s Rs 24.44 crore well ahead within the same timeframe.
