Bentley Motors is set to begin a new chapter in India, transitioning its operations to fall directly under the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) umbrella.
Bentley Joins the Volkswagen Group in India
As of July 1, 2025, Bentley India will officially become an integrated part of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL). This marks a significant shift for the British luxury carmaker, which was previously managed in India by Delhi-based private importer and seller, Exclusive Motors.
Under this new arrangement, SAVWIPL will take full responsibility for Bentley’s operations nationwide. This includes everything from vehicle import and sales to marketing, distribution, and comprehensive aftersales services. The move aims to streamline operations and strengthen Bentley’s presence in the Indian market.
A New Addition to an Elite Portfolio
Bentley becomes the sixth distinguished brand to join SAVWIPL’s impressive portfolio in India. The group already successfully manages a range of prominent automotive names, including Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini.
This integration signifies a strategic push by the broader Volkswagen Group to solidify its position across various segments in India, especially within the rapidly growing ultra-luxury car market.
Leadership and Market Focus
To steer Bentley India through this new phase, SAVWIPL appointed Abbey Thomas as the division’s brand director back in December 2024. Thomas brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as the head of marketing for the Passenger Car division within the Volkswagen Group.
His appointment underlines Bentley’s renewed focus on tapping into India’s affluent consumer base. In 2023, Bentley was estimated to have sold between 70-80 cars in India, with the Bentayga SUV being the dominant model.
Expanding Reach and Product Lineup
As part of its refreshed strategy, Bentley India plans to work closely with three dedicated dealer partners. Initial showrooms are confirmed for key metropolitan areas: Bangalore and Mumbai, with New Delhi soon to follow. These new dealerships will provide dedicated spaces for customers to experience the Bentley brand.
Beyond network expansion, Bentley is also set to bolster its product offerings in India. The luxury carmaker is expected to launch the new Flying Spur and Continental GT models sometime this year, diversifying its domestic lineup which currently primarily features the Bentayga.
