Uorfi Javed recently admitted she overreacted during her clash with Apoorva Mukhija on ‘The Traitors,’ leading to online abuse from Apoorva’s fans.
Uorfi Javed’s Win and the Backlash
Reality TV star Uorfi Javed emerged victorious on Karan Johar’s show ‘The Traitors,’ sharing the substantial prize with co-winner Nikita Luther. However, her win wasn’t met with universal applause from viewers.
Many online critics argued that other contestants, particularly Apoorva Mukhija and Purva Jha, were more deserving of the title. Uorfi faced accusations of strategically eavesdropping on conversations, which allegedly led to the eviction of Purav and Harsh Gujral.
She also drew significant backlash for supposedly “backstabbing” Apoorva during the crucial moments leading up to the finale.
Reflecting on the Apoorva Mukhija Conflict
In a recent conversation, Uorfi candidly addressed her highly publicised fight with Apoorva on the show. She acknowledged that conflicts are a natural part of reality television and stated that she holds no ill will towards anyone.
“They are all kids and have said something. They will laugh at it two years later, even I have done it,” she remarked, highlighting her impulsive nature. Uorfi admitted that she often says things in the heat of the moment that she later regrets.
The Root of Her Reaction
Uorfi revealed that feeling disrespected has become a significant personal trigger. She explained that years of online abuse and criticism have made her insecure about how people perceive and address her.
This deep-seated insecurity, she explained, sometimes causes her to “cross certain lines” during arguments. She confessed that during her clash with Apoorva, she felt personally attacked and overreacted.
“I shouldn’t have spoken the way I did. I over-reacted. I just felt how dare she talk to me like that?” Uorfi confessed, taking full responsibility for her words.
Unmatched Personalities and Online Abuse
Uorfi clarified that despite the on-screen drama, she and Apoorva are simply two very different individuals whose personalities don’t align for a friendship. She reiterated that she harbors no personal hatred for Apoorva.
However, Uorfi was deeply affected by some of Apoorva’s post-show comments, particularly being called a “pathetic human being” and the accusation of “eyeing Harsh.” These remarks, coupled with Apoorva’s large young fanbase, led to a barrage of abusive direct messages towards Uorfi.
Lessons Learned
While the initial wave of online abuse was difficult, Uorfi eventually realised that dwelling on it was not worth her peace of mind. She acknowledged that she needs to work on her impulsive nature and manage her reactions better in the future.
