Mahindra has expanded the battery options for its mid-spec BE 6 and XEV 9e Pack Two variants, now including a larger 79kWh unit that was previously exclusive to the top-tier trims.
Bigger Battery Now More Accessible
Good news for electric SUV enthusiasts! Mahindra has made the powerful 79kWh battery pack available for the mid-range Pack Two variants of its BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs.
This move, previously reported by us, means more buyers can now opt for extended range without having to go for the most expensive Pack Three variants. The existing 59kWh battery option remains available as well.
Pricing and Delivery Details
The new BE 6 Pack Two with the 79kWh battery is priced at Rs 23.50 lakh (ex-showroom). For the XEV 9e Pack Two with the same large battery, the cost is Rs 26.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Deliveries for these newly introduced variants are set to begin this month, in July. Mahindra is also allowing customers who previously booked 59kWh models of the BE 6 and XEV 9e to upgrade their bookings to the new Pack Two 79kWh variants.
It’s worth noting that charger and installation costs are separate. A 7.2kW AC fast charger costs Rs 50,000, while an 11.2kW AC charger is priced at Rs 75,000.
Impressive Range and Charging Capability
Both the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e promise excellent range figures. The BE 6, equipped with the 79kWh battery, boasts an ARAI-certified range of 682km. With the 59kWh unit, it still manages a healthy 556km.
The larger XEV 9e offers an ARAI range of 656km with the 79kWh battery and 542km with the 59kWh unit. Both SUVs feature a rear-wheel drive motor, delivering 286hp with the 79kWh battery and 231hp with the 59kWh battery. Peak torque for both configurations remains at 380Nm.
When it comes to charging, convenience is key. Using a 175kW DC charger, the 79kWh battery can charge from 20 to 100 percent in just 20 minutes. The 59kWh battery also achieves a 20 to 100 percent charge in 20 minutes with a 140kW DC charger. For home charging, an 11kW AC charger will fully charge the 79kWh battery in 8 hours, and the 59kWh unit in 6 hours.
Feature-Packed Interiors and Safety
The Pack Two variants of the BE 6 and XEV 9e come loaded with modern amenities. You’ll find LED headlights and taillights, a fixed glass roof, and dual-zone automatic climate control for comfort.
Infotainment includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, alongside a premium 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos for an immersive audio experience. Wireless charging and rear AC vents add to the convenience.
Safety is a priority, with features like Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems), 6 airbags, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and all-wheel disc brakes.
Both SUVs ride on 19-inch wheels, though the XEV 9e gets proper alloy wheels while the BE 6 Pack Two uses aero covers. Inside, a 12.3-inch touchscreen and digital driver display are standard. The XEV 9e takes it a step further with an additional 12.3-inch screen specifically for the front passenger.
