A film is officially underway to recount the shocking murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, a crime that unfolded during his honeymoon in Meghalaya and garnered national attention.
A Story Demanding the Big Screen
The family of the late Raja Raghuvanshi has given their full blessing to a new film, tentatively titled “Honeymoon in Shillong,” which will delve into the tragic events surrounding his death. This marks a significant step for the family, who believe the project is crucial for revealing the full truth.
Raja’s elder brother, Sachin Raghuvanshi, expressed the family’s motivation, stating, “We believe that if we do not bring the story of my brother’s murder on the big screen, people will not be able to know who was right and who was wrong?” It’s a clear indication of their desire to ensure public understanding of the complex case.
Setting the Record Straight
Beyond seeking justice for Raja, the family also hopes the film will serve another important purpose. Raja’s younger brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, highlighted their intent to “present the correct image of Meghalaya” through the movie. This suggests a wish to balance any negative perceptions that might have arisen due to the high-profile crime occurring in the picturesque state.
Behind “Honeymoon in Shillong”
Director SP Nimbawat is at the helm of this ambitious project. He describes Raja Raghuvanshi’s fate as a “big betrayal” following his marriage, aiming for the film to carry a strong social message. Nimbawat stated, “Through our film, we want to give a message to the public that such incidents of betrayal should be stopped.”
The script for “Honeymoon in Shillong” is reportedly complete, and pre-production is well underway. While actor details remain under wraps, the director confirmed that a significant portion of the filming, approximately 80%, will take place in Indore.
The remaining 20% of the shoot will capture the distinct beauty and atmosphere of various locations across Meghalaya, providing an authentic backdrop to the story.
