England has slipped to third place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings following a hard-fought draw against India in the fourth Test in Manchester, while Australia continues to dominate at the top.

India’s Resilience Forces a Draw

The fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Old Trafford saw India pull off a remarkable draw against England. After a disastrous start where they trailed by 311 runs in the first innings and lost two early wickets in the chase, the Indian batters showed immense grit.

Skipper Shubman Gill led the charge with his fourth century of the series. He was ably supported by KL Rahul, who narrowly missed his own hundred, as the duo forged a crucial 188-run partnership for the third wicket. Later, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar further frustrated the English bowlers with a magnificent 203-run stand, securing a famous draw for India.

This draw marks a significant moment for England’s “Bazball” era, as it’s their first Test draw not affected by rain. England still leads the five-match series 2-1 heading into the final Test.

WTC Standings: England Slips, Australia Reigns

The draw had a direct impact on the WTC 2025-27 points table. England, with 26 points from four Tests and a 54.17 PCT (Percentage of Points Won), has now dropped to third place.

Meanwhile, Australia remains firmly in the lead of this new WTC cycle. They boast a perfect record with three wins from three matches, giving them 36 points and a commanding 100.00 PCT.

The Rest of the Pack

Sri Lanka has moved up to second position, securing 16 points and a 66.67 PCT from their two Tests. India, despite their spirited draw, remains in fourth place with 16 points and a 33.33 PCT, having won one, lost two, and drawn one of their four matches.

Bangladesh sits in fifth place with 4 points and a 16.67 PCT, stemming from one loss and one draw against Sri Lanka. The West Indies are yet to open their account, having suffered a 3-0 clean sweep against Australia in their home series, leaving them with zero points from three matches.

Teams like New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa are yet to play any matches in this WTC cycle. South Africa recently defeated Zimbabwe 2-0, but those matches were not counted towards the WTC standings as Zimbabwe is not part of the current cycle.

  • Australia leads the WTC 2025-27 standings with 100 PCT.
  • England dropped to third place (54.17 PCT) after their draw against India.
  • India is currently in fourth position (33.33 PCT).
  • Teams earn 12 points for a win, 6 for a tie, and 4 for a draw.
  • Points are deducted for slow over rates, and rankings are based on the percentage of points won.

As the WTC cycle continues, every match becomes crucial for teams vying for a spot in the 2027 final.
