New road projects are currently being planned to significantly reduce travel time and ease traffic gridlock between Gurgaon and Delhi.
Proposed Solutions for Traffic Chaos
The government is looking at several new road projects designed to streamline the daily commute between Delhi and Gurgaon. These initiatives aim to cut down travel time for thousands of commuters struggling with congestion.
Local MLA Mukesh Sharma recently met with Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to advocate for these crucial infrastructure developments. Sharma stated that he presented three key demands, which the minister took seriously, immediately issuing directives to highways authorities.
Direct Connectivity for Gurgaon Commuters
One major proposal involves constructing a direct road from the Gurgaon bus stand to Dwarka Expressway, passing via CRPF Chowk and Kamdhenu Gaushala. This new route is expected to provide faster access to residential areas such as Sectors 4, 5, Ashok Vihar, and Palam Vihar, among others.
MLA Sharma, accompanied by MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya and other officials, recently conducted a site inspection to explore the possibilities for this reconstruction. This new connectivity is anticipated to significantly alleviate congestion for daily commuters in these areas, facilitating smoother travel.
Addressing Rajiv Chowk Congestion
Another key project involves building a road from Rajiv Chowk to Signature Tower, traversing via Baba Prakashpuri Chowk and Old Railway Road. This stretch would connect several busy market areas and major intersections.
The aim is to reduce the heavy traffic strain currently experienced in these zones, making the flow of vehicles much more manageable.
Elevated Road at Sirhaul Border
Severe traffic congestion is a frequent issue at the Delhi-Gurgaon border near Ambience Mall, particularly for traffic moving between the two cities. To tackle this persistent bottleneck at Sirhaul, a request has been made to the NHAI to construct an elevated road.
This elevated structure is intended to ensure a smooth flow of traffic on NH-8, which is a critical artery for the region.
Ministerial Support and Future Outlook
Minister Nitin Gadkari reportedly took these proposals seriously and promptly issued directives to the relevant departments. He acknowledged that “traffic snarls are a crucial aspect of urban development,” highlighting the importance of these projects.
It’s worth noting that the Union Road Transport Ministry had already announced in 2022 that it would explore the possibility of building an elevated road from Mahipalpur to Manesar. This could potentially serve as an upper deck of the existing Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, showcasing a continued commitment to improving connectivity in the region.
- New road projects are on the drawing board to reduce travel time between Gurgaon and Delhi.
- Proposals include a direct road from Gurgaon bus stand to Dwarka Expressway and a new stretch from Rajiv Chowk.
- An elevated road is being considered for the highly congested Sirhaul border point.
- Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has directed authorities to move forward with these proposals.
These proposed infrastructure upgrades are crucial for enhancing daily commutes and supporting the region’s continued growth and development.
